War and Order Guide to Forging Equipment
This War and Order guide will focus on how to craft gear in the game. Crafting gear in War and Order can be a little confusing at first. But, once you understand the process of how making gear works, you will be a pro in no time.
Some abbreviation we will use in this War and Order guide are:
- Rss -> Resources
- WaO -> War and Order
- Stats -> Statistics
- Mats -> Materials or Crafting Materials
There is only one element required to make gear in WaO. The one thing you need to make gear is crafting materials. First, I will explain how to get crafting materials to make your Lord gear.
How to get Crafting Materials in War and Order
There are a few different ways you can get your crafting items in game. The first and most common way for low level castles (under level 10) is to kill monsters (there is a How to Kill Monsters Guide link at the bottom of this guide). Try to kill monsters in your territory for the chance to earn extra rewards.
Killing monsters does not always guarantee crafting materials, however it is one of the only ways to get started making gear at a low level. Once you reach Castle level 10 and Blacksmith level 10 things get easier.
The second way to get crafting materials is doing your daily rebel attacks at the Ancient Ruins. You are sometimes rewards what is called a Materials Chest. This chest will contain anywhere from 1 to 5 crafting materials. Attacking rebels is a slow way to get materials, but it all adds up when you do a little of everything.
The third and easiest way to get crafting materials at any level is to buy them with real money or gems. You can purchase special gem packs that a designed just for gear crafting. This process can be a little bit expensive if you plan on making the best gear and spending real money.
How to Get Crafting Materials in War and Order – After Level 10
Once you reach a Castle level of 10 in War and Order, you will be able to start using the Merchant. He is located at the little ship near your watchtower inside your city. You will often see an icon indicating that he has new materials for sale and trade.
What you will want to do here, is sell your resources to him in exchange for shells. You should do this every chance you get. It will add up and you can get some good and helpful items without having to spend gems.
You will often see him selling Crafting Materials Chests in exchange for shells or gems. The price for these chests when using gems is always discounted at the merchant. This should be one of your go to places every day. You can also refresh the merchants inventory and your ability to trade resources for 10 gems, and then it increases 10 gems with each refresh.
Upgrade Your Blacksmith to Level 10
You will want to upgrade your Blacksmith to level 10 if you want to start making good gear early in the game. Once you reach Blacksmith level 10, you open the ability to create common and green quality crafting materials for free using the Workshop (see the image below).
Creating these materials is based on a timer. Just like it takes time to upgrade a building or recruit troops, it will take time to create these materials. The nice thing about this is you can create 4 green quality materials, just set it and forget it. Once your items are ready you just click the icon above the building and they will go into your materials storage. Don’t forget to set up the next set of crafting mats after that.
Now that you know where and how to get the crafting materials it is time to explain gear quality.
War and Order Guide: Gear Quality, Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic
There are five different types of gear qualities in War and Order. Each color represents a different quality. This list below will give you insight as to what the colors mean.
- White – Common quality gear with lower stats. Easy to make but not effective in later levels
- Green – Uncommon quality gear with decent stats. Requires green quality materials
- Blue – Rare quality gear. Good stats, should be a focus for anyone after level 10. Requires Blue materials
- Purple – Epic quality gear. Great stats, requires purple crafting materials. This should be your goal for any gear after level 15.
- Orange – Legendary quality gear. Best stats, requires orange crafting materials. If you can make this you don’t need this guide.
How to create higher quality crafting materials in War and Order
The process of creating higher quality crafting materials in War and Order is actually really quick. What takes the most time is getting the materials to combine into better quality ones. You need 5 of the same color crafting materials to combine into one piece of higher quality material.
Here is an example: You have 5 pieces of common (white) rope. You can go to your storage from your blacksmith and you will see a little yellow arrow pointing up on the rope. Click the icon for the rope and click combine. You will now have one piece of green quality rope.
Repeat this process several times to create enough materials to make either your desired piece of gear or higher quality materials.
Below is a breakdown of how much materials would be required to make the best quality crafting materials. We will use rope for our example.
Combining Materials in War and Order Guide:
|Item Quanity||Material Created|
|White x 5||Green x 1|
|Green x 5||Blue x 1|
|Blue x 5||Purple x 1|
|Purple x 5||Orange x 1|
This chart explains how many of each color crafting item is needed to upgrade to 1 orange material.
War and Order guide to combining items summary
As you can see it takes a lot to make one orange quality crafting item. Something to keep in mind is that it will require two to three crafting materials to create one piece of gear. If you do not use the same color materials and required gear piece you will risk making a lower quality item.
How to get the most out of crafting your gear – You have two options
The first method is the safe and slow way. Start out with a full set of common gear if you really want to, but plan for the future. Start saving your crafting materials and don’t just build random pieces of gear. There is a gambling factor if you don’t start out strong.
You can create a level one purple item, and that item can be your base item to level up the rest of that gear piece. Note that you will have to do this for each gear type meaning you need a level one epic head, chest, weapon, amulet, belt, and so on.
Once you have your base epic gear piece, you can start combining the required materials to make the next level of purple gear. You will need hundreds of epic quality crafting materials to achieve a full set of purple gear going this route. Using this method guarantees you 100 percent surety that you will have an epic quality upgrade.
Method Two – Gambling for Your Gear
While not the 100 percent fool proof way of getting better gear in War and Order, gambling your chances can be quicker. With each upgrade to your gear you are required to use an existing piece of gear to start the process.
The gear required for your upgrade can be of either the same level or one level below. This means you can use a level 5 piece of common gear to try and create a level 10 piece of uncommon (green) gear. There is a risk going this route. You will see in the image below that there is a percent chance.
If you use a lower quality item to try to make a higher quality piece of gear it will lower your percentage chance of obtaining that higher quality. The gear will either come out as the desired quality or to a lower one (dependent upon which quality gear you used to create the new piece).
Using your crafting materials to make the gear
You can see in the image below that there are required materials for each piece of gear. You can use any quality you want; unless the gear requires at least one specific quality (it will be indicated by the color of the material requirement icon). If you want to make epic gear, use epic materials.
Some gear requires a green quality along with the option to use a common second material. To increase your chances of getting a better quality gear, you want to use the same quality crafting items for each upgrade. Also it is wise to use the same or at least close to the same quality piece of gear required to make the item. (Don’t try to make a purple item by using purple crafting materials and using a piece of common gear as the required gear piece, you will waste your materials, use at least a blue quality item in this case to increase your chances).
Final Notes on Forging Gear in War and Order
Remember to watch the upgrade chance percentage. You want to use the same quality crafting materials for the gear upgrades. If you have the chance, use the same quality gear and materials that are required for the upgrade as well.
Crafting high quality gear in War and Order takes time. There is no huge rush to get into all purple gear, even though it’s awesome to have. Use the material crafting building to make green quality items. It takes the same amount of time to make 1 green as it does to make 5 whites. Going green allows you to have one less thing to worry about doing every so often.
Lastly, be smart with your materials, don’t waste a purple by combining with a bunch of white quality mats. Pay attention to the percentage ratio on your forging screen when making your gear.
